Wren looking up.

Why the newsletter?

Those of you who know me well, know that I am constantly buzzing with a hundred new ideas, inspired by my love of art, design, music, business, science - and various rabbit holes I let myself drop into (currently it’s a mix of Greek mythology, automatic artwork, and operations management).

I love ‘connecting the dots’ across industries and disciplines, and pushing the boundaries of what we accept as truth, to explore new ideas or terrains that could unlock deeper creativity, empathy and insights.

I believe that part of my purpose on this Earth, is to share and inspire through community. So, that’s why I’m starting a monthly newsletter.

What you can expect

Short articles that authentically reflect what’s inspiring me, and an update on Be-kin.

Newsletter One: Surrealism, birdsong & Be-kin win’s an award.

INSPIRATION | art

“Surrealism is destructive, but it destroys only what it considers to be shackles limiting our vision.”

– Salvador Dali

In my decades of studying art, looking at art, philosophising about art and making art – I’ve arrived at a clear conclusion that the entire purpose of art, is to remind us of our own humanity.

Everything outside of us, exists within us. When we look at art, we are invited to connect with aspects of ourselves we might have otherwise dismissed. Art is a tool for integration.

Listen: Within you Without You.

Surrealism Beyond Boarders, is an exhibition at the Tate Modern, and is on until 29th of August. I found the work quite dark, which may not be a surprise given much of it was done during and after WW1. Works by Remedios Varo moved me (her painting is depicted above).

Your invitation: next time you look at art, notice how it makes you feel. Do you feel peaceful or agitated? Do you want to look away, or stop and pause?

INSPIRATION | music

Are you enjoying the sounds of spring? I love hearing birdsong as I wake up.

Other sounds that are inviting me to dance and move:

STUDIO NEWS | May 2022

Be-kin is an award-winning design studio (YAY!)

We were awarded second place at the Blue Badge Access Awards for our wheelchair accessible and neurodiversity inclusive conceptual hospitality suite. This project will be published on our website soon, and is currently being developed into a CPD.

Help spread Be-kin’s light

If you know someone who could benefit from Be-kin, please spread the word. We work across sectors, including private residential, hospitality, spas and workplaces. What units all our projects, is our ambition and ability to create spaces that stimulate wellbeing and purpose.
