Join Wren for a viewing of Wayne Pate’s latest exhibition, Works on Paper. The exhibition is by The Finch Project, a contemporary art gallery that we enjoy working with.

Please email wren@be-kin.com to register your interest.

About the exhibition:

Wayne Pate's "Tissus En Papier" exhibition showcases a profound evolution in his artistic journey, blending personal introspection with the tactile qualities of a unique paper sourced from a Milanese designer. This delicate yet durable medium becomes the foundation for his exploration, allowing for a dynamic interplay of light and movement that invites the viewer to engage with the artwork on multiple levels. The immediate, accidental effects achieved through layering oil sticks and watered-down acrylics add depth and impart an aged patina to his works, enhancing their visual intrigue and expressing the delicate balance between fragility and resilience.

Inspired by the repetitive patterns reminiscent of historical decorative arts, Pate's work deftly navigates the line between abstraction and representation. Each piece, meticulously composed of various segments, reflects the nuances of perception—how the mind processes visual cues in fleeting moments and what that means in our cognitive engagement with art. Through a classical fallow and taupe colour story, Pate underscores the inherent beauty of repetition and motif and its ability to cultivate its own composition, ultimately celebrating the capacity of the decorative arts to assume a distinguished position within the traditional art landscape.
